How to host a dorehami

Three to five people you already trust, something to eat, and one question. About two hours. Outside Iran only.

  1. Invite people you already trust

Family, old friends, the people you already argue about Iran with. Three to five is right: enough for an argument, few enough that everyone speaks. Message each one yourself. No public post, and no group chat with people you do not know.

  2. Pick a place you already use

Wherever you would have these people over anyway, or a café you all know. I never see the address and I never ask for it.

  3. Put something on the table

Tea counts. Food makes people stay, and people who stay start talking. If you pour alcohol, that is the host's own responsibility, and the law differs from place to place.

  4. Start with one question

Ask it once and let the table run. Take one of these, or bring your own.

    • What would you do in the first week of a free Iran?
    • Which politician where you live could be moved, and by what?
    • What did the show get wrong this week?
    • What do people here get wrong about Iran?
    • What is one thing the five of you could do before the next time?
  5. Say the picture rule before anyone takes one

    • Pictures show the table, the flag, hands. A person is shown only if they said yes to this site and the shows too, not just to your own post.
    • Nobody whose family is in Iran is shown or named, unless they chose it themselves.
    • No address, no house number and no car plate, on this site or in any picture.
    • Nothing is posted during it, and nobody says where it was, before or after.
  6. End with a date and one small job

Before people leave, set the next evening and pick one mission to do together by then.

  7. Report it, in words

How many came, what you ate, what the table disagreed on. No names, no faces, no address. A report I accept earns XP, and hosting earns more than coming.

What I do, and what I do not

  • A dorehami belongs to its host. I give a guide and XP. I run nothing, pay for nothing and decide nothing.
  • I keep no list of dorehamis, I match no strangers, and I never send an invitation or a file. If someone says I sent them, I did not.
  • Only people you knew before this site. Someone who says they are a member here is still a stranger.

A dorehami is not a campaign event. In America, the day it becomes one for a named candidate, campaign finance rules apply to the host.
